Why not cut people taxes for making your own food

Tax breaks for Gardening

I used to work for One World Film Festival, and I recall one year a documentary from Europe somewhere, that introduced an interesting concept to me. It showcased a town which forced each household to have its own garden. Yet the fun part was each house could only grow one type of veggie. As an example I would grow tomatoes and you would grown potatoes, we would trade with the community.

You would focus on mastering one or two crop and work with others to know what is needed. Each week the grocery store would be free filled with healthy food, no need for transportation, packaging as each person would bring in there food. This concept made alot of sense to me….

Consider a program where the governments deducts less income tax from you if you have your own garden

Lets say that 1% of your taxes will be deducted if you have an outdoor garden at your home,  This garden should be a least 20 square feet and yield food for at least 2 people for 6 months. The two people will imply a form of sharing, perhaps the more your share the more taxes get deducted.

How to measure this, we could simply ask for photos and a signed document from someone stating you ate their food. If necessary someone from the government could go visit the garden, to see its success.

For those who says its not fair if you don’t have thh space, gardening can be done in a relatively small space with techniques, especially herbs which are easy and healthy.
